Global Game Jam

InfoMADJAM 2016 starts off with a bang as we host the official Edmonton site for the world’s largest game jam, the Global Game Jam. Participants will be joining the worldwide game development community to create amazing games in 48 short hours, using the guidelines and theme set forth by Global Game Jam.

Participation is free and all skill sets and skill levels are welcome to attend. Participants are encouraged to attend without a previously formed team. The entire event will be streamed live on Twitch.

At the end of the 48 hours, our panel of judges will play through all the submitted games and, using a rigorously detailed rubric, will select their Judges’ Pick. Teams will also be invited to compete for the Badge Collector award by successfully meeting optional design, technical, and artistic criteria.

How It Works

The Rules Are Simple

You must be at least 16 years old to participate unless accompanied by a guardian.
Remote participation is not allowed.
Power and internet will be provided, but every participants must bring their own equipment (hardware/software) and power bars.
The team/makers of the game hold all IP rights, but the Global Game Jam may use the games for demonstration as it sees fit.
Every team must post their game even if it does not compile. This version will always remain on the Global Game Jam website - even if it does not work.
All participants and all games entered for Global Game Jam must agree to a Creative Commons, share, alter, no sell license.
Ideally, you will form a new team at the event venue instead of coming with your own team.
